Tendering Manager

We are recruiting for a full-time, permanent Tendering Manager based in our office in Johnstown, Co Kildare.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the entire tendering process from initiation to conclusion.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key Clients and ensure that Tender invitations are captured and recorded
  • Ensure that the Tender Folders are maintained and that all relevant team members are informed.
  • Compile precise and well-organized submissions in a timely manner.
  • Ensure tenders all aspects of tenders, Technical, Financial and Contractual are submitted and processed on time, follow up on tenders and documents, and record any feedback.
  • Issue tender queries and prepare tender reports.
  • Lead tender risk reviews
  • Negotiate prices with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the cost database.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key vendors (subcontractors, suppliers, engineers, etc.).
  • Stay informed of developments in the industry.
  • Established and implement quality procedures to ensure a high standard of quality control produced by the Tendering Department.
  • Manage and mentor members of the Tendering Team.
  • Reports the status of the tenders/estimates/quotations including analyses of tender outcomes

Requirements, education & experience

  • 5+ years’ experience in a Commercial role.
  • 10+ years’ experience in a senior role in a MV / HV organisation.
  • Experience in either the Irish or UK market.
  • A minimum of a Level 8 Degree in a relevant qualification, such as
  • Electrical Engineering or Quantity Surveying.
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, cost management, and financial analysis.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • A proactive approach with problem solving skills and adaptability.
  • Strong Microsoft Office package skills and knowledge.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Extensive knowledge of contractual terms, conditions, and risk management.

QS / Estimator

Due to its increasing growth, Powercomm is now hiring for an Estimator to join our Tendering and Estimating team. You will become an integral part of our newly developed tendering department, contributing to a diverse range of nationwide projects. This is the perfect opportunity to build a career in one of Irelands leading High Voltage / Medium Voltage engineering companies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Estimator is responsible for the co-ordination of tender big and pre-contract activities involving reviewing project documentation, take-off projects, handover and presentation of tender bid to team.
  • Check and acknowledge tender documents and amendments.
  • Abstract information into subcontract and material packages.
  • Select subcontract and material suppliers.
  • Ensure tendering processes are fully implemented.
  • Enter pricing document onto estimating system.
  • Rate up pricing document.
  • Answering queries from subcontractors/suppliers.
  • Liaise with Clients Team during tender process and arrange meeting if required.
  • Identify scope for design alternatives and value engineering, discussing with appropriate bid team members.
  • Appraise sub-contractor/supplier quotations.
  • Price up Prelims, in conjunction with Tendering Manager.
  • Highlight any areas of concern / risk in cost proposal.
  • Complete Form of Tender and tender letter with any qualifications
  • Enter final tender information in tender log and ensure it is maintained.
  • Prepare information packages for handover to construction team, if successful.
  • Attend handover meeting and brief team on tender bid.
  • Develop client / specifier relationships to enhance opportunities to tender, negotiate and enhance tender margins.
  • Attend post tender negotiations with Client.
  • Cost Planning.
  • Undertake project debrief, eliciting feedback from sites, to improve construction.
  • Identification of project related risks.
  • Develop Supply Chain.

Requirements, education & experience

  • 5+ years experience in Estimating / QS
  • Experience in a MV / HV organisation (desirable)
  • A minimum of a Level 7 Degree in a relevant qualification, such as Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Management.
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong Microsoft Office package skills and knowledge
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines

Project Manager

We have a superb opportunity for a motivated and highly organised Project Manager in a well-established team. This job will require travel to site.
This is a fulltime, permanent position.

 

Key Responsibilities/Duties

  • Effective Interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Communication on the project to key stakeholders including PMO (Weekly/Monthly Status Reports).
  • The ability to make decisions under pressure and use your initiative; problem-solving skills in other words.
  • Good leadership skills to motivate and direct your team.
  • Excellent organisational skills to use your resources to ensure deadlines are met and the project budget is maintained.
  • Technical electrical knowledge and ideally general civil experience.
  • Ability to technical evaluation of equipment offers and drive cost reductions.
  • Liaising with existing & perspective clients.
  • Ensure that all site activities are carried out to Powercomm’s high standards.
  • Monitor & review contractors’ activities in line with Powercomm procedures.

 

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Electrical Engineering Degree (ideally)
  • 15+ years experience
  • 10+ years experience in UK / Irish Markets
  • Computer literate – Microsoft packages etc.
  • Willingness to travel – vehicle provided by Powercomm

Electrical Design Engineers

Powercomm Group is hiring for Electrical Design Engineers for HV/MV design. This person must have experience and can work autonomously.
These are full time, permanent positions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engineering studies using industry leading software (PowerFactory, CDEGs, CYMCAP) – Studies include protection coordination, load flow, power quality, earthing, lightning protection, insulation coordination, dynamic etc.
  • Preparation of equipment specifications
  • Technical evaluation of equipment offers.
  • Liaising with manufacturers, to ensure equipment meets design specifications.
  • Liaising with clients
  • Design of protection and control schemes
  • Preparation of engineering drawings (substation layouts, elevations, lightning zones etc.)
  • Preparation of panel schematic drawings using EPLAN
  • On-site inspections and testing.
  • Completion all safety requirements including compiling Risk
  • Assessments and Method Statements and on-site risk assessments.
  • Attendance at FATs for HV switchgear, transformers, and protection cabinets.
  • Tender documentation preparation, evaluation, and presentation
  • Technical report writing.

Qualifications:

  • Electrical Engineering Degree (QQI Level 8)
  • 5-10years experience.
  • E-Plan Experience (very desirable)
  • Experience with ESB / Eirgrid (Very desirvable)
  • Computer literate – Microsoft packages etc.

Desirable:

  • E-Plan Experience (very desirable)
  • Familiarity with HV substation design from 10kV to 220kV.
  • Familiarity with engineering software packages, for example
  • Powerfactory
  • Familiarity with ESB standards.

Graduate Electrical Engineers

Graduate Programme is structured over two years; with the graduates working in Commissioning, Design and Project Engineering Departments to get a good understanding of the organisation and the Medium – High Voltage industry.
