Our idea of safety is that it is everyone’s responsibility. We invest every day in safety and this has resulted in a dynamic live approach to safety which features the continuous development of improved work practices and procedures; safety inspections and focused themed safety campaigns. We have a “no blame” safety culture to promote and encourage enhanced learning.

The Team

The Powercomm Group has expanded to employ an exceptional team of professional people with diverse technical and managerial backgrounds and extensive experience in the electrical power industry.

James Cafferty

Managing Director

James Cafferty established Powercomm in 2008 to provide specialist power commissioning service to the electrical engineering industry. He is personally certified to commission electrical substations up to 400kV.

James has 25 years’ experience at all levels in the sector working with such prestigious companies as: ESB, Siemens and ESBI, on leading projects in Ireland and the UK. As founder and managing director of Powercomm, James personally leads a safe, highly-motivated, qualified and experienced team.

For Powercomm clients; James guarantees the standard of work, the track record of the people completing the work and the quality of the executed project. James takes pride in the fact that if a client needs to talk to him, he is there to personally assure the client; what is planned to happen truly does.

Martin Eager

Associate Director

Martin is a senior engineer with over 20 years’ experience in engineering design and project management. He is highly experienced in electrical engineering roles, specialising in design, implementation and commissioning of generation, transmission and distribution systems.

He previously worked in the Innovation team of the Irish Transmission System Operator (TSO) EirGrid/SONI. Primarily involved in power system dynamics and transmission system control centre tools with a focus is on the integration of large amounts of renewable energy on the all-island Irish power system.

Prior to joining EirGrid/SONI he worked in manufacturing, software and power system consulting industries. His previous employment experience includes DIgSILENT Pacific, Australia and Schneider Electric, Ireland

Mark Denissen

Commissioning Manager

Mark is a highly experienced electrical Commissioning Engineer, certified to the highest standard. Mark leads a commissioning team of highly experienced commissioners diligently ensuring all equipment under his team’s remit is tested meticulously.

Mark has successfully commissioned numerous transmission and distribution substations from 11kV to 400kV as well as Client owned high voltage switchgear, transformer and ancillary equipment.

His experience in commissioning and fault analysis is recognised nationally among the electrical power system industry.

Safe-T-Cert

Powercomm demonstrated their 100% commitment to improving health and safety management in the workplace by being awarded Safe-T-Cert certification. We were awarded the Safe-T-Cert following health and safety auditing by an approved CIF/ISOH auditor.

Lloyd’s NERSRegister

Powercomm has been accepted onto the Lloyds National Electricity Registration Scheme in the UK as a Utility Connection Provider for contestable works up to 132kV.

Safe Electric

Powercomm are a Registered Electrical Contractor (REC) who adhere to the Safe Electric Rules including training, competence, inspection & audit, test equipment, insurance and completion certificates.

Achilles

Powercomm has secured Achilles UVDB and Supply Line registration.
